NDML  – NSDL Database Management Limited (NDML), established in 2004, signed the Groningen Declaration in May 2019.

NDML is part of the NSDL Group, comprising the National Securities Depository Limited (NSDL), NSDL Database Management Limited (NDML) and NSDL e-Governance Infrastructure Limited.

The NSDL Group was set up in 1996 to establish the first securities depository of India. After establishing a depository system of international standards in India, NSDL Group has successfully implemented various projects of national importance for the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), the Ministry of Finance, the Government of India, the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA), for the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY), the Government of India, NASSCOM (National Association of Software and Service Companies), and the Insurance Regulatory & Development Authority of India (IRDAI).

National Academic Depository (NAD): The National Academic Depository (NAD) is an initiative of the Ministry of Human Resources Development, Govt. of India (MHRD). NSDL Database Management Limited (NDML) has been appointed for setting up and implementing the National Academic Depository (NAD) in India.

NAD aims to facilitate digital itssuance, storage, access and verification of Academic Awards issued by Academic Institutions. NAD is a Unique, Innovative and Progressive initiative under “Digital India” theme towards achieving Digital enablement of the Education Records.

NAD aspires to make the vision of Digital Academic Certificates for every Indian a reality. This touches the lives of Indian youth and empowers them with Digital, Online, Trusted, Verifiable Certificates which are accessible in a secure manner at all times. NAD promises to do away with difficulties / inefficiencies of collecting, maintaining, and presenting physical paper certificates.

NAD facilitates online verification and easy retrieval of academic records thereby removing the need to physically approaching the educational institutions to obtain attestations/transcripts of certificates. The system also helps deal with issues of forged certificates since it enables online verification.
