SIGMA Gestión Universitaria AIE is the only not-for-profit consortium for the Higher Education sector in Spain. SIGMA has been developing information systems in the Spanish Higher Education environment for over twenty years, working in the areas of educational planning and resources, student information and academic management, lifelong learning and comprehensive research management. The initiative for the foundation of the consortium comes from the early 1990’s, already developing the first software solutions, even before the consortium was formally constituted. The consortium was officially created in 1996 and today brings together 8 Spanish public universities, offering technological solutions both to the consortia members and to other Spanish institutions as customers. Today’s SIGMA mission is to provide innovative technological solutions for Higher Education and to offer services that increase their value, holding the vision of becoming functional and technological reference in Higher Education at national and European level, to improve the Teaching and Research activity.
