General information:
Executive Agency for Higher Education, Research, Development and Innovation Funding (UEFISCDI) is a public institution subordinated to the Romanian Ministry of National Education (MEN) having functional attributions to MEN advisory councils in higher education and research. Its mission is to promote quality and leadership for higher education, research, development and innovation, being responsible for implementation of the national methodological framework for financial resources allocation, from the state budget and from other sources, and also for the implementation of the national policies and programs regarding higher education, research, development and innovation. UEFISCDI has an important experience in managing various statistical quantitative and qualitative data regarding Romanian higher education (statistics on: students and graduates, study cycles and areas, staff teaching, financial data; statistical data on different aspects of academic and administrative management, social services and guidance and career counseling for students). Moreover, UEFISCDI has experience in elaboration and implementation of studies, statistical analyses and reports regarding various aspects of the higher education and research systems. UEFISCDI has implemented several strategic projects aiming to support the efforts for improvement and harmonization of data collection process in the university education system and their analysis and interpretation, as part of a broader process aimed at developing a strategic information system for higher education and educational policy making. Thus, UEFISCDI developed some important informatics systems in order to increase the accuracy and volume of higher education and research data, and in the same time the transparency, efficiency and promptitude in Data Management, one of them being the support system for the National Student Enrollment Registry.

From 2010/2011 – academic year (In order to test the system was gathered a first set of test data regards the first year students’, from the academic year 2010/2011 – bachelor studies.)

Current number of student data registrations:
The National Registry it was only tested, 72 public and private universities from Romania have actively participated in reporting students data testing period, resulting a total number of 108 227 registrations (for the academic year 2010/2011, first year students’). For the next reporting sessions in 2014, all of the universities will be involved by exporting the data for all enrolled students to the National Registry.
